Everyday Miracles # 14: The Power of Faith Eliminates A Dangerous Situation

It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon. I felt very bless to get perfect weather for our family birthday celebration at a gorgeous public park with a fenced preschool playground. There were two other families in addition to mine having gatherings at the picnic tables under the large pavilion.

Suddenly, a young couple approach me, coming from the direction of the parking lot. The woman was visibly concerned. She asks me if anyone has seen a tiny blue plastic container? Apparently, they had a birthday party for a young child under the same pavilion earlier that morning. The small container contained pills; her father’s medicine. When he got home he realized the container fell out from a hole in his pocket. This was a potentially deadly situation, because there were many preschool and young children at this park, as I assume there is everyday.

No one had seen the tiny container. This was a large park, and her father had walked around multiple large fields, which she pointed out. In my opinion, it was like trying to find a needle in a haystack, but the risk was too great. The container had to be found.

I noticed that I was the only person among these three groups that she spoke with. I believe that God led her to share the situation with me, because I have tremendous faith in the scripture that would allow the Holy Spirit to move:

“When they arrived at the Jordan, they began cutting down trees. But as one of them was cutting a tree, his ax head fell into the river. “Oh, sir!” he cried. “It was a borrowed ax!”

“Where did it fall?” the man of God asked. When he showed him the place, Elisha cut a stick and threw it into the water at that spot. Then the ax head floated to the surface. “Grab it,” Elisha said. And the man reached out and grabbed it.

2 Kings 6:4-7, NLT

I have prayed for God to bring missing things to the surface so many times that I can’t even count them. And nearly every time the prayer is successful. So I quietly prayed this prayer over the situation, and occasionally glanced at the couple going through the two fields her father had strolled.

Before they left, the woman took the time to tell me that they found the missing container with the pills!!! It was in the parking lot, filled with cars. I saw the container and believe that it was very possible for a preschool child to open it. A threat of tragedy was eliminated by finding the container.

I don’t know this couple. Perhaps they are Christians too, and my prayer was needed to come into agreement with theirs.

This experience was a powerful reminder to me about several things:

  • We need to always be spiritual prepared to exercise spiritual gifts.
  • Miracles can prevent tragedy as well as remedy them, even in subtle ways.
  • Faith can be naturally supernatural in our our everyday life, doing normal everyday things – like hanging out at the park with your family.
