Everyday Miracles #12: No Loss of Income
Photo by Billion Photos Thursday 29 February 2024 It was shortly before Thanksgiving 2023 when my husband was notified that the project that he’d been working on would end, meaning his job would end. Not good news, especially right before the holidays. Fortunately, his company was trying to reassign him, but if they couldn’t find him a new project then he would be out of work by the end of January 2024. I prayed for God’s intervention in this situation, and particularly that we would not have any loss of income. Eventually my husband was given an end date for his job. He still didn’t have a position anywhere, which…

Everyday Miracles #11: Toddler Snow Boots
Photo by Nikita Khandellwal from Pexels Tue 9 January 2024 A snow storm came through my region of the Midwest, thickly frosting the landscape with eight inches of snow. It was still coming down, although much lighter, in the morning when my daughter called. She was hoping that after the snow finally ended, and if I could get out of the driveway, I would stop at a store and pick up a pair of size 7 toddler snow boots. I would gladly leap tall buildings in a single bound (if only I could) to get my grandson whatever he needed, but that was a tall order so soon after the…

Everyday Miracles #10: Christmas Lights
Photo by TriggerPhoto from Getty Images Signature Tue 2 Jan 2024 I love Christmas lights. When my children were little we would drive through festive neighborhoods to look at the Christmas lights and decorations. Those were well invested evenings that created a lifetime of happy memories. I had to live on those memories for over a decade after I developed light sensitivity in 2012. This condition prevented me from being able to look at Christmas lights, TV, computer monitors, and cell phone screens. I had to keep all the lights in my house at half power, and wear a large brimmed hat and dark sunglasses anytime I left my home.…

Everyday Miracles #9: The Nutcracker Ballet
Photo by Artur Didyk from Getty Images Mon 18 December 2023 I saw an advertisement for The Kansas City Ballet’s rendition of the Nutcracker at the beautiful Kaufman Center. When I saw the advertisement I thought, I would just love to see that Ballet! The only time I’d ever seen the Nutcracker Ballet was at a High School performance about fifteen years ago. But I don’t drive and I didn’t want to say anything to my children because I know they all have extra busy schedules during the holidays. So I just let it go. A few weeks later I was with my daughter (who knew nothing about my desire)…

Everyday Miracles # 5: Landing His Dream Job
Photo by VladislavStarozhilov from Getty Images Pro (This is a stock photo.) Sun 5 September 2021 One of my sons is a professional freelance illustrator. He has a successful, fascinating career. However, there was one particular company that he dreamed of getting work from since he graduated from college in 2009. Have you ever had a thought that seemed to just drop into your mind? Well, that is what it felt like when I recalled my son’s goal of getting work from this company. And then I felt impressed to pray for his goal to manifest. I offered up one rather simple yet sincere prayer, asking God to get my son…

Everyday Miracles #4: Buying the Perfect House
Photo by Vladislav Chorniy From Getty Images August 2021 Two of my sons wanted to buy a house together during the housing market craziness of 2021. Houses were all selling for way over the asking price. They had a few specific dog-friendly things that they needed in a house, and an ideal area where they wanted to live. They were thrilled when they found a house they liked, and made a bid for a considerable amount over the asking price. They lost the bid and were very disappointed. My sons kept looking, but no other house measured up to the location and specs of the first house. So I went…

Everyday Miracles # 3: Choosing Where to Live
Photo by Jeff Denlea from Pexels (This is a stock photo.) Sat 20 May 2017 In 2017 I was sizing down from a house to an apartment. I had narrowed my options to two apartment complexes located in different towns. One complex was near two of my sons, and the other was near one of my daughters. I was having trouble making a final decision. After all, where you live is a significant decision. And I hate moving, so I didn’t want to do it again for a long time. I decided to prayerfully go through the grounds of each place, carefully monitoring my inner peace as I envisioned myself living…

Everyday Miracles #2: Perfect Timing
Photo by Billion Photos (This is a stock photo.) November 1995 My family moved from the East Coast to the Midwest in 1992. The Lord miraculously arranged for us to buy our first house on a contract-for-deed. It was a little post World War II ranch, practical but not very pretty. After three years we were ready to move up to a house that would better accommodate our large family. I found a historic 5 bedroom house that I wanted to buy and I had a young family lined up to buy my ranch with a lease purchase. All that I needed to do was to contact the couple who…
